Oh, November. Colder, darker days and nights leave a lot of room for reflection. Whether your relatives are in the military, your ancestors served your country or you’ve left a country with a war still raging, living today means most of us have some connection to war, conflict and military service. Our historic community has many houses, including mine that were homes to soldiers who never returned.

As November settles in and we immerse ourselves in remembrance thoughts also turn to the upcoming holiday season. The countdown to winter break is on and kids on toboggans take over the big hill in Buckmaster Park. Cookies and treats are in the oven and lights are strung around eaves and balconies. Local artisans are busy doing last minute preparations, creating beautiful things to help you with your holiday shopping. Have some hot chocolate, meet a neighbour and support local this December 3 at our annual Holiday Craft Bazaar!

I hope that this November 11 you have time to reflect and feel a sense of gratitude for living in this community where we are safe. Stay warm, take care of each other and keep in touch: bankviewcommunity@gmail.com
