In collaboration with the City of Calgary and The Bankview Community Association, a group of residents from Bankview organized the first Neighbour Day Event on Saturday June 17th, 2017. The event was celebrated with a great enthusiasm.

Neighbour Day was established in Calgary after the floods to promote strong community spirit through community events. This year, the Calgary Urban Projects Society partnered with residents from Bankview and the Bankview Community Association to organize a day of fun for the whole family.

The weather was fantastic as over 90 residents and families attended the event. From hotdogs and treats, to games and prizes, a photobooth, face painting, a childrens craft, and music from local Bankview band The Golden Dinosaurs, the event was a huge success.

The planning committee is grateful to those community members who provided feedback and will be sure to incorporate it into next year’s event. Thank you to all who contributed to organizing and running the event and for those who attended. It was a great way to increase community spirit and neighbourliness
