One month into a New Year and your Bankview Community Association is busy preparing for April’s AGM (save the date for April 19, 2017). Because our board structure is such that the positions can change annually, my goal is to have a few things in place so that next year’s board has everything they need to continue the great work of 2016. We have renegotiated our lease with the City of Calgary and through that process have been drafting three-year business plan for the Community Association. We are investigating grant opportunities for Canada’s 150th and hope to do a legacy infrastructure project in 2017. We are holding an informal engagement session (“dot-mocracy” at the AGM—stay tuned). Less exciting, but very important, each board member is working to update their board position descriptions and committee’s terms of reference for posting onto our website.
Thanks to our Community Coordinator’s skills and vision, the website is now an even greater resource for residents. Have you checked out bankview.org lately? You can use the calendar function to see upcoming events, you can rent the hall through the site and sign up to volunteer. Agendas and minutes from board meetings are posted and you can keep-up-to-date on all the latest events and happenings through our blog and new Garden and Development pages.
Lastly, lots of great community events are being planned for 2017 including our annual Stampede breakfast, a spring community clean-up/ parade of garage sales and also a regular ongoing drop-in event for any creative residents out there. It is an exciting time to consider joining our board as a volunteer. The weekly commitment is negligible and the impact is enormous.
