Community Garden

The Bankview Community Garden is in Upper Buckmaster Park near 23rd Avenue and 16th Street SW. It was created in 2011 to be a peaceful and productive space where neighbours can meet, relax and grow food for themselves. The garden is divided into separated beds which are available for individuals and families from Bankview to rent.

Gardeners are responsible for planting, weeding, managing and harvesting their own bed over the growing season. In fact, everything you see in the garden area has been hand-made or planted by volunteers who donate their time, skills and resources to make our community a better place!

Members of our garden must pay an annual fee of $40 and sign up for “work bee” tasks to keep the space working smoothly! Returning gardeners in good standing get to join a lively community and have first option to return to their previously rented bed. Gardeners must be members of the Bankview Community Association and agree to garden bylaws attached here.

If you would like to join our garden, please send a note with:

  1. Your name
  2. Your address
  3. The best email at which to reach you

In a 1-2 weeks you should receive confirmation you’ve been added to our waiting list, which is usually about a year long.
