Thank you to the fine folks who filled the community hall at our Annual General Meeting (AGM) and pizza social at the end of April.  And a heartfelt thank you to all the hard working volunteers – the casino fundraising & event volunteers, Development Committee members, and our volunteer Board of Directors. This year we’re delighted to have a wonderful mix of new and returning volunteers on the Board of Directors. Our new President, Kate Schutz, will work closely with Whitney Smithers (Vice-President), Gail Simper (Treasurer), and Jessica Webber (Secretary) and five dedicated Directors to champion Bankview and its residents through a mix of events, advocacy, and engagement.

Since the AGM, the board has continued to support programs like the Good Food Box (currently on hiatus until September) and the Community Garden (now in full bloom in upper Buckmaster Park!). Additionally, during and outside of the monthly meetings, the board has identified a number of priorities — both administrative and community-based — that strive to give everyone in our community an opportunity to get involved. While there will be a break in August, the next board meeting is on July 20 at 7pm at the community hall and all are welcome.

In the coming months, the Bankview CA will be actively recruiting for a range of volunteer positions from board members to committee support to event-specific and one-time volunteers. Watch for a ‘Volunteer’ page with details on positions and how to sign up coming to the website soon!

A special thank you to Little Caesars on 17 Avenue SW

We’d like to extend our sincere thanks to our local Little Caesars Pizza (1705C 17 AVE SW) for sponsoring the pizza at the AGM in April. After their participation in February’s Bankview Business Bingo they were keen to express their support for more community initiatives and they quickly came on board to provide us a bite to eat after the AGM. We’re very lucky to have small business in Bankview who recognize the importance of community. The next time you’re looking to feed your pizza craving – be sure to show them your support and ring them up at (403) 244-2777

Our public representatives: working together to make Bankview better

Finally, as we move though the summer and into a fall full of great community events and engagement, we’d like to thank all of our public representatives – Councillor Evan Woolley, MLA Brian Malkinson, and MP Kent Hehr – for taking time to attend the 2016 AGM. Their ongoing support, in big and small ways, makes a meaningful difference day over day and together we’ll continue to make Bankview an incredible place to live and work!
